MBI investigates fatal officer-involved shooting in Hancock County

HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in Hancock County.

The shooting occurred along Highway 604 in Pearlington.

Bailey Martin, spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (MDPS), said Hancock County deputies responded to a domestic violence call where the suspect was holding a person captive.

Martin said the suspect displayed a weapon at deputies, who fired shots. The unidentified suspect died from his injuries. Martin said no deputies were injured during the incident.

Once completing their investigation, MBI agents will share their findings with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
