(FOX40.COM) — A substitute teacher was arrested after he allegedly committed lewd acts near a middle school in Northern California.

Around 9:51 a.m. on Sept. 5, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office in Patterson responded to a report of a suspicious person in a silver Toyota RAV4 near Creekside Middle School. When deputies arrived, they contacted Kien Nguyen, 22, of Modesto. Deputies said Nguyen was employed part-time by Modesto City Schools as a substitute yard duty and a substitute instructional paraprofessional.

During the investigation, Nguyen admitted to engaging in lewd acts while observing children at the school, according to SCSO. Additionally, deputies said he committed indecent exposure and fantasized about lewd acts involving children on campus.

Nguyen was arrested and faces charges including lewd and lascivious acts with a child, annoying or molesting a child, and indecent exposure.

Deputies said Modesto City Schools was notified about the incident and took “appropriate measures” to address the situation. Detectives are currently working to identify victims.
