Louisiana man arrested after alleged threat to shoot up a school; WPSO announces
MINDEN, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A threat to “shoot up a school” on Thursday landed a Haughton man in jail in Webster Parish.
Webster Parish Sheriff Jason Parker announced the arrest of Austin Rae Stone, 21, on Thursday. Stone is accused of terrorizing after an instructor at the Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College Camp branch on the campus of Camp Minden heard the threat allegedly made by Stone.
“With the incidents we’ve seen lately, such as the shooting death in Utah, we’re not going to tolerate any type of threat like this,” Parker said. “People should feel safe, especially in schools and churches, and we’re going to do whatever is necessary to protect them.”
Deputies who were dispatched to the college were reportedly given over 950 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition recovered from Stone’s vehicle. A follow-up search of the vehicle by law enforcement did not yield additional ammunition, and no firearm was located.
Stone is held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on a $15,000 bond.
