STANLY COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Four people are hurt after a fire at the Fiberon facility in New London, according to the Stanly County Fire Marshal.

Emergency crews responded to the facility just before 7 p.m. on Friday. Officials said the fire was under control around 11:45 p.m.

According to the fire marshal, four people were transported from the scene. Two went to a local Atrium hospital, and two others went to Wake Forest Baptist Burn Center. It is unclear how serious any of their injuries are at this time.

For now, the operation at the facility is shut down. “Quite a bit of damage to the building and some of the related equipment to their manufacturing process,” Fire Marshal Daniel Barham said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the ATF, the fire marshal, NC State Bureau of Investigation and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Fiberon is a leading manufacturer company in decks and railings. It announced its expansion to Stanly County in 2021.
