The senior racks up more than 200 rushing yards and has four touchdowns on just 11 carries, and the running back’s first rush of the game sets the tone for a historic day on an 80-yard touchdown run.
“I knew it was pay dirt. It was over for the team. Coming out, first play to do something like that, it really set the tempo for the rest of the game,” Boudreaux said.
:It kind of set the tone. Yeah, we’re a long ways away from home and you don’t know who we are, but this is John Curtis football and this is what we’re gonna do all game so just buckle up and be ready,” Patriots’ assistant coach Jeff Curtis added.
The Phantoms are not ready though. Boudreaux’s effort leads the Patriots to a school record 654 rushing yards, and although the senior is only in his third year at the position, switching from linebacker to running back as a sophomore, the Curtis coaching staff has known the potential Boudreaux has in the backfield.
“We always envisioned this kind of success for Jacobi. Certainly not that production back two years ago, but we thought that he could have the potential to have a game like he had,” Curtis continued.
“Making a switch, I had a few older guys in front of me. That really motivated me to be the player I am now, and as you can see, I’m that person now,” Boudreaux stated.
