According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 3:20 p.m. to a report of a juvenile drowning on Linden Crest Road near Garner. They found the boy, who was pulled from the pond.
Firefighters and EMS also arrived at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
Despite life-saving measures from emergency personnel, deputies said the boy died from his injuries.
“The Wake County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest condolences to the family and all those affected by this tragedy,” Sheriff Willie Rowe said in a statement. “We ask the community to keep them in your prayers and stand with them during this difficult time.”
