STANSBURY PARK, Utah (ABC4) — Multiple southbound lane closures are in place in the area of State Route 36 and Pole Canyon Road due to a Hazardous material spill.
According to the North Tooele Fire District (NTFD), crews responded at 12:40 p.m. to the area of State Route 36 and Pole Canyon Road (SR-138). They discovered that approximately 200-300 gallons of polyphosphoric acid had spilled from a semi-trailer.
Currently, cleanup operations are underway as NTFD and other agencies work to mitigate the spill. While northbound traffic is unaffected, two southbound lanes are blocked. Additionally, the right shoulder is blocked.
While drivers should use caution and expect potential delays in the area, officials say there is no anticipated danger to the public and there are no evacuations in place at this time.
The cause of the spill remains under investigation, and officials have not said when the lanes may reopen.
