Prince George’s County officer under investigation for alleged posts made about Charlie Kirk’s death

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A Prince George’s County Police Department officer is facing an internal investigation after allegedly making a social media post regarding the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the department confirmed Thursday.

Details are limited; however, PGPD told DC News Now that the department “is aware” of the post made by officer Adam Molake and has begun an investigation.

On Thursday evening, screenshots circulating online showed the post reportedly published by Molake, which reads: “When you’re spewing hate, hate will eventually rear its head and find you…”

The screenshots show that a news article regarding the shooting death of Kirk was posted below Molake’s statement.

Kirk, a conservative activist and co-founder of right-wing political organization Turning Point USA, was fatally shot while speaking at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday afternoon. His death has since sparked conversations regarding rising political tensions and the fear of political violence across the U.S.

As of Thursday evening, there is no indication that Molake’s status with the department has changed. According to PGPD’s General Orders Manual, employees’ personal use of social media has not only “the potential to impact the department” but also employees in their “professional capacities.”

“Even employees who take steps to remain anonymous, such as by using pseudonyms
or posting speech in private chat rooms, are not immune from disciplinary action in the event that a violation of this policy occurs and they are sufficiently identified, including and up to termination of employment,” the policy reads, in part.
