Erin Warren, the superintendent for Luling ISD, said via a Facebook post that a social media post originating on a Burbank High School account “appears to be threatening toward our football game this evening.” She posted the message at 5:44 p.m. on Thursday.
“Out of an abundance of caution and for the safety of our students, staff and families, the game has been canceled,” the post said. “Our priority is to provide a safe and positive environment for our students and staff. We recognize that anxiety around social media threats can create disruptions on our campuses and our community, and we want you to know that we are vigilant in keeping our campuses safe.”
She said law enforcement from both cities is “actively investigating the threat.”
The game has not been rescheduled as of Thursday night.
