Emporia State’s first game of the invitational is this Friday at 9 a.m. against Newman, followed by the Hornets second match against Truman State at 3 p.m.

Invitational play ends on Saturday for the Hornets, where they will have two matches. First at 8 a.m. against MSU-Moorhead, followed by a 2 p.m. game against William Jewell.

Emporia State volleyball head coach Ken Murczek enters his third year at the helm after leading the Hornets to a 17-10 overall and 9-7 conference record last season.

“You know we will take it one match at a time,” Murczek said. “Obviously, tomorrow you know we will get Newman in a conference with a new coach. We’re going to watch them today, and they’ve got an arm or two in the system. They can score, and I’m hoping we keep it tough enough to keep them off the net.”
