BC Clerk Canda Reese to seek re-election in 2026


Baxter County Circuit Clerk Canda Reese has announced she will be seeking re-election in 2026.
Reese, who is serving her fifth term in the dual role as Baxter County’s Circuit Clerk and County Clerk, also acts as the Recorder of Deeds. First elected in 2012, she has held the office for 12 years.




KTLO News spoke with Reese and spoke on how much the trust of the community means to her.

In a statement announcing her bid for re-election, Reese said, “It has truly been an honor to serve my County for the past 12 years. I am grateful for the trust and support of our community, and I humbly ask for your continued support in the 2026 election.”

During her tenure, Reese has overseen technology upgrades and record preservation efforts. She has implemented a Property Fraud Alert System, electronic filing for court records, electronic recording for land records, a jury reporting notification system and has received multiple data quality excellence awards. She has also secured several grants to support her office’s work.

Reese is a nationally certified Court Manager through the National Center for State Courts. She has completed the High Performance Leadership Academy and the Leading on Purpose Master Certification through the National Association of Counties.

She has served on state commissions and committees, including the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Security and Emergency Preparedness, where she chaired the Court Security Grants Subcommittee, and the Arkansas E-Recording Commission, appointed by former Governor Asa Hutchinson.

Reese is president of the Arkansas Circuit Clerk’s Association, serves on the executive board of the Arkansas County Clerk’s Association and is a member of the Arkansas Court Managers Association. She says it is an honor to serve with so many people dedicated to making Baxter County a better place.

She holds bachelor’s degrees in psychology and criminal justice from College of the Ozarks and a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University. Reese and her husband, Tony, have lived in Baxter County since 1991.
