Trump greenlights $5.7 million in disaster aid for Kansas

TOPEKA (KSNT) – President Donald Trump announced that he is granting Kansas millions in disaster aid following severe weather damage.

Trump made the announcement around 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 through Truth Social, stating that he is granting the Sunflower State $5.7 million in disaster relief. He said the money is meant to assist Kansas with damage caused by storms, tornadoes and flooding.

“THANK YOU to Senators Marshall and Moran, the Republican Members of Congress, and the Republican State Legislature, who I pay very close attention to, for their advocacy for these important recovery funds — It is my Great Honor to do so. I LOVE KANSAS!”
President Donald Trump social media post excerpt

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly last asked for federal help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in August this year. She cited storm and flood damage in 16 counties across Kansas in June as the reason for the request.
