President Trump approves $32M in federal assistance for Western NC

RALEIGH, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — President Trump has approved $32 million for areas in Western North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Trump posted the announcement on Truth Social Thursday.

North Carolina Senator Ted Budd recently voted against a Trump nominee for the Office of Strategy, Policy, and Plans in an effort to get the attention of the Department of Homeland Security.

He claimed the move was a protest against slow Hurricane Helene relief funding, adding that towns in Western North Carolina are waiting for tens of millions of dollars from the government that were already approved by Congress.
