According to a news release, staff working at the hospital requested assistance from the Greenfield Police Department around 10:55 a.m. after receiving electronic threats from a man who was not physically present at the hospital.
The threats reportedly involved the use of a firearm and were directed toward employees and staff working at the hospital. As the investigation unfolded, GPD said officers soon identified 40-year-old Kevin McNamara as their primary suspect. They also determined that McNamara allegedly made the threats from his residence, which was located in Hancock County.
Law enforcement successfully executed a search warrant at McNamara’s address and brought him into custody without further incident with assistance from the Hancock County Joint Tactical Team.
McNamara was placed under arrest and transported to the Hancock County Jail, where he faces a preliminary felony count of intimidation.
The Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office will ultimately decide whether any formal criminal charges are filed in this case.
