BREAUX BRIDGE, La. (KLFY)-In Breaux Bridge, the 4th annual Patriot Luncheon was held today at Pellerin Funeral Home to honor the memory of those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks and to thank first responders and military personnel.
The event marked the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks and was attended by first responders and law enforcement from St. Martin Parish.
Guest speakers spoke not only about the importance of the day, but also on how the 9/11 attacks redefined history in national security, immigration, aviation and global politics.
The community outreach director of Pellerin Funeral Home, Patrick Menard, says the event is a way to thank the first responders for their service and sacrifice.
“Today is the 9/11 luncheon that we provide to all of our first responders and to all of our military, retired military as well, for all the things that they have done and continue to do for us,” said Menard.
Taylor Angelle, the Location Manager at the Pellerin Funeral Home, emphasized the importance of the event, and says the event is about gratitude and remembrance.
“It’s very important to continue to serve our community leaders, our law enforcement and first responders because they do so much for us and what they did that day in 2001 was such a huge impact and we are so grateful to them today,” said Angelle.
Menard highlighted that the luncheon serves not only as a remembrance of those who lost their lives but also as a way to honor those who continue to serve and protect.
“We also use this to reflect on 9/11, which was in 2001, which occurred then, which was a horrific act, and this is one way of remembering those whose lives were lost and those people who continue to serve and protect,” said Menard.
