Oakland HS girls basketball seeks help to go to prestigious national tournament

(KRON) — We’re shining a spotlight on a group of young athletes who have already made history. Now, they’re trying to make it to the national stage.

The Lady Wildcats of Oakland High School won the state championship in 2023 and earned their place as one of the top girls’ basketball teams in the state.

They’ve been invited to something even bigger — the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, and they need your help to get there. A GoFundMe has been started to help finance the trip.

KRON4 spoke with head coach Nita Simpson. Watch the full interview in the media player above.
