New business curfew in effect for parts of Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — Businesses in some Philadelphia Neighborhoods have a new curfew: they cannot be open from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m.

City leaders say the goal is to reduce crime.

The curfew applies to businesses in Districts 7 and 8, which include Kensington, Frankford, Hunting Park, Germantown, Mount Airy, Logan, and Chestnut Hill.

Food trucks, bodegas, takeout restaurants, and 24-hour shops are affected. Businesses that hold liquor licenses, along with gas stations and drive-thrus, are exempt.
