The Metropolitan Council has named Deb Barber its interim chair, according to a news release from Rep. Brad Tabke, who congratulated her on her new role.
“Deb is exactly the kind of person you want stepping up in a moment like this to fill a crucial role,” Tabke said. “She’s smart, capable, and can take on the reins of helping to lead the Met Council during this interim period. I congratulate her on this well-deserved appointment, and wish her the best on the work ahead.”
Barber currently sits on the Council as the member representing District 4(portions of Scott and Carver counties). This news comes after the retirement of former chair Charlie Zelle, who left his position on Wednesday.
