CARROLL COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers said they intercepted a Caterpillar (CAT) bulldozer on its way to Ghana, having been stolen out of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

The dozer was valued at about $237,000, authorities said in a news release on Wednesday.

The CBP said that the dozer was intercepted on Sept. 3 and that Ghana is a popular destination for stolen vehicles. About 60% of the stolen vehicle exports that CBP officers in Maryland recovered last year were destined for West African nations, including Ghana.

Usually, however, those vehicles are SUVs, sedans, vans and pickup trucks — not a typical day in the office when you recover a 2015 Caterpillar D8T Dozer.
