PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Washington man was sentenced to four years in prison on Thursday for sexually assaulting a developmentally disabled woman last year.

According to the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office, 36-year-old Darryl Anthony Pearson pled guilty to a charge of first-degree attempted sexual abuse in August.

The victim was a 37-year-old woman who was diagnosed with autism and fetal alcohol syndrome.

The original incident occurred on Sept. 16, 2024, when the victim told police Pearson had approached her at the shopping center, then offered her $100 to have sex with him. After she refused, he offered her a ride home, which she accepted. Pearson then drove her to a church parking lot in Gladstone, where he sexually assaulted her.

The victim reported the assault to police and a DNA sample was collected. The sample was submitted to the Oregon State Police database, where it matched with Pearson.

The DA’s Office said Pearson at first denied being in Oregon City on the date of the incident. However, court records showed he was in Clackamas County Circuit Court, where he pleaded guilty to charges in a separate case, including second-degree theft, attempting to elude a police officer and criminal mischief.

On those charges, he was sentenced to 18 months’ probation. Additionally, the DA’s Office said Pearson has multiple convictions in Washington State, including burglary, robbery and assaulting a child.
