According to a school statement obtained by FOX59/CBS4, the school was placed on lockdown this morning after a student informed officials that they believed another student had brought a gun to the school.
School officials promptly called the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department to investigate. A short time later, officers confiscated the gun in question. IMPD confirmed that officers also detained the student.
Preliminary information indicates that there is no indication that there was any “intended threat to anyone on campus,” according to the release. School officials immediately contacted the families of students.
“I’m very sad to see this student make that choice, but it was all handled very quickly and efficiently, and no one was ever in danger,” said Janet McNeal, president of Herron Classical Schools.
