27 News got in touch with Heather Jones, general manager of the Happy Basset Barrel House, on Sept. 11 to hear about the brewery’s new kitchen addition: Basset Bites. The business first began teasing the new food options
Jones said the Happy Basset is currently testing out different food options to guests prior to the grand opening of Basset Bites that is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2. She said the business will reveal its full menu for the big day which will include a lot of items that meat lovers will enjoy.
“Smoked BBQ, salads, flatbreads, other dishes that are going to be infused with our own craftier taste,” Jones said. “A little something for everybody is what our goal was.”
Jones went on to say that burgers, babyback ribs, pulled pork, smoked meatballs, jalapeno cheddar sausage, rib tips along with beer-battered mozzarella sticks, onion rings and fish and chips are planned for the full menu release. She said the brewery wanted to add its own flavors to the meal options that paired well with the beer it has to offer.
“It’s been right at a year that we’ve been working on getting our own kitchen up and going,” Jones said. “We wanted to create a menu that had something for everyone while still staying true to us as a brewery.”
People can find the new kitchen inside the Happy Basset Barrel House by heading up to the food window. Jones said customers will have to place orders at the window but that wait staff will also be regularly checking on tables.
