LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Tributes are continuing to pour in after the killing of political influencer Charlie Kirk.

He was killed at an event Wednesday at an event at Utah Valley University.

Friend, businessman, and U.S. Senate candidate Nate Morris said it is an American tragedy. He said Kirk inspired him to begin his journey into politics, even joining him at his first campaign event in Shepherdsville.

“I believe that was his last political event that he did. And it meant so much to me that he believed in us. He believed in the campaign, and he believed in our vision for the country. And, I think, you know, he’s going to be immortalized now. But he’s one for the ages. There won’t be another one like him,” Morris explained.

Morris said Kirk helped create a political movement through his organization, Turning Point USA.

“He had a gift, like no other human has, to be able to inspire and galvanize and focus, a generation of Americans, to look at democracy different, to look at the way we engage in political discourse, the way we engage in cultural discourse,” he added.

Morris said Kirk’s influence and work will continue to live on.

“His work is just beginning at his passing. And, you know, I feel personally inspired and personally responsible to make sure his legacy lives on and to make sure that, things like our campaign reflect the values that he stood for and we’re going to continue to fight for the battles that he took on every day,” said Morris.
