Flags ordered to fly at half-staff throughout Pennsylvania after Charlie Kirk killed

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Flags have been ordered to be flown at half-staff by Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro after political activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed while he was on a Utah college campus Wednesday.

United States and Commonwealth flags on all state facilities, public buildings and grounds are ordered to be at half-staff until sunset Sunday, Sept. 14. President Donald Trump also ordered flags to be flown at half-staff across the country earlier.

Shapiro wrote in a statement on Facebook that “political violence has no place in our country.”

“We must speak with moral clarity,” Shapiro wrote. “The attack on Charlie Kirk is horrifying and this growing type of unconscionable violence cannot be allowed in our society.”

Kirk, 31, is the founder of the non-profit organization Turning Point, which, according to its website, is “committed to identifying, educating, training and organizing students to promote freedom.”
