What a nightmare! Ghost Manor closed due to road construction this Halloween
“We got sad news this year. We are forced to cancel Ghost Manor because of unexpected road construction,” said David Gentry, Owner of Ghost Manor.
What a nightmare! Gentry said it was a tough decision to make to cancel the animatronics Halloween show that he puts on nightly every Halloween season at his Garden District home.
The road construction will take three months and it is one block away on Magazine Street from Ghost Manor, which is at Second and Magazine Streets.
Road closures and detours surround the neighborhood.
“Traffic is coming up this way and there won’t be parking, so this is a bigger issue. We have to think about the impact to the neighborhood and think of the guest experience for the crowd,” Gentry said.
“It really crushes us because we love the thousands of smiling faces,” he said.
Gentry was already preparing for this year and was surprised when he found out about the construction.
“It is not just taking decorations out of the attic and putting them on the house. We prepare year round and we do a lot this time of year. I already started getting stuff ready to go, this is like my mad scientist laboratory here,” he said.
Don’t be scared because Ghost Manor will be back and bigger and better than ever.
“This would be our 13th year for Ghost Manor, so they say 13 is unlucky, and I guess we are living that,” Gentry said.
Gentry said there is a silver lining that with having this year off he can now take his daughter trick-or-treating.
“We want to ensure everyone Ghost Manor is not going away. We survived two hurricanes, a global pandemic, and we’ll survive this too,” he said.
You may remember Ghost Manor was featured on the ABC show, “The Great Halloween Fright Fight” back in 2023.
