Warm & rather dry through OCTOBER?
Long-range rain outlook: With rain still looking doubtful for the next few weeks, let’s take a look at when it could return. The EURO ensembles create a 45-day outlook that compares its forecast temperatures and precipitation to what is average. If you need some rain, its outlook is not very promising. Out of the next six weeks, there is only one week at the end of September where the northwestern half of the ArkLaTex experiences slightly above-average rainfall. It shows another extended period of relatively dry weather that could last through most of October. The graphic above shows rainfall potential for various locations around the ArkLaTex through October 22nd. IF this is accurate, it’s possible that much of the area could receive less than half of its normal rainfall.
Tropical worries? The National Hurricane Center continues to indicate that we will likely not see any tropical worries for the next week. Long-range models suggest we may have to watch a disturbance that comes off of Africa later during the month of September.
Weather Worry Index ONE out of 10: Still no weather worries to speak of, minus the above-normal temperatures. Consequently, today’s WWI remains at 1 out of 10.
