The deadly crash occurred just after 6 p.m. on Sept. 8, according to a Facebook post from Kentucky State Police (KSP). Troopers were dispatched near the 45-mile marker.
An initial investigation showed that 47-year-old Andy Lohen of Smith’s Grove was driving a Chrysler Town and Country, driving west on the parkway. At the same time, 56-year-old Charles Smith of Huntington, Tennessee, was heading west, driving a semi-truck, which had reportedly been parked on the right shoulder of the road.
State police said Smith got out of the semi-truck and was walking in the westbound lane when Lohden allegedly drove up and hit him with the Chrysler.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adair County coroner, per KSP. Lohden wasn’t hurt in the crash and denied medical treatment.
An investigation into the deadly crash remains ongoing. Law enforcement officials didn’t announce whether or not criminal charges were pending.
