Off-duty Louisville officer seriously injured in crash with semi

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — An off-duty Louisville police officer is seriously injured after a crash involving a semi-truck Tuesday night.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. at the intersection of Fern Valley Road and Roederer Drive in Louisville.

The police said the crash happened after a semi and a pick-up truck driven by a Louisville Metro Police Department officer.

They said the officer had to be extracted from the truck, and he was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. His status is not known at this time.

The driver of the semi-truck is expected to be okay.

LMPD’s traffic unit is leading the investigation.
