Carmel has transformed Civic Square just north of Carmel City Hall into a residential area, and the new condos will be the final step in a six-year-long project.
The 4-story, 25 luxury condo building will feature brand new amenities like a fitness center, parking garage and a coffee bar. The condos will have multiple 2-bedroom units, but also have units with three bedrooms available to attract more families. Investment group owner Tony Birkla said accessibility to multiple things makes this an attractive place to live.
“The access to the schools and the location and the Monon made it very appealing to target families, in addition to empty nesters,” Birkla said.
Future tenants Stacy and Steve Graham agreed with Birkla, saying having the walking trail just footsteps from their front door was a huge draw in choosing to live in Carmel.
“We wanted to be closer to walking areas, shops, restaurants and events,” Stacy Graham said. “We don’t have that now, so to move to that was huge.”
Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam said she and her office hear from residents every day, and a big thing they ask for is more space for families to live in. She thinks having more space for families and things for people to do can help extend people’s quality of life.
“The city of Carmel has always been known for a high quality of life,” Finkam said. “We get ratings and rankings every year for it. This is just one more way we can prove we’re delivering on that promise.”

Carmel is already a popular place to live, and with more properties being built, more and more people will start to look at living in Carmel.
Finkam said adding more property for people to own is something that can be beneficial to the city of Carmel.
“We get asked each and every week about more properties here in the heart of Carmel, and really our entire city,” Finkam said. “So this will help people moving, this will help people downsizing and this will help new people coming to our community for a job. It’s really exciting to have this property here.”
