According to a press release, MPD officers were called to GMA around 3:15 p.m. to investigate a report that indicated a juvenile student had made threats at the school.
Officers detained the student during their investigation. MPD reported that the student is still “under investigation for making threats at the school.”
Police are preparing a report on the incident for the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office. Per MPD, HCPO will review the report and determine if any criminal charges will be brought against the student in question.
MPD indicated that it does not believe there is any active threat to the safety of students or staff at GMA. The agency is still planning to increase its presence at the school in the coming days out of “an abundance of caution.”
As of this article’s publication, no additional information on the student or the threats that were allegedly made had been made available.
