Krispy Kreme Doughnuts named NC's most loved homegrown brand, survey says
The survey performed by MarketBeat.com, a financial media company, asked NC residents to name the products that make them “beam with state pride.”
The results are:
#1: Krispy Kreme (Charlotte)
The iconic glazed doughnuts have people running when the “Hot Now” sign is on. Originally based in Winston-Salem, the company moved its headquarters to Charlotte in 2017.
#2: Burt’s Bees (Durham)
Natural personal care products that came from a North Carolina beekeeper’s hobby and later became a worldwide brand.
#3: Mt. Olive Pickles (Mount Olive)
Truly a North Carolina staple. Mt. Olive Pickles remains the largest privately held pickle company in the U.S.
#4: Biltmore Wines (Asheville)
Wines are produced from grapes grown on the famous Biltmore Estate. The winery offers tastings of over 20 handcrafted reds, whites and rosés.
#5: Texas Pete Hot Sauce (Winston-Salem)
Don’t be fooled by the name; this hot sauce is North Carolina through and through since the 1920s.
