Elderly man saved after lawnmower accident in Jones County

JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – An elderly man was rescued in Jones County after he was trapped under a zero-turn lawnmower that had flipped into a ditch.

The incident occurred on Gus Townsend Road off of Sharon Road on September 10, 2025. According to deputies, a male passerby discovered the rollover accident.

Deputies said a group was able to lift the lawnmower off the victim using the winch cable on a tow truck. The injured man was transported to South Central Regional Medical Center (SCRMC) for treatment of apparent multiple injuries. 

The victim told deputies that he had been trapped underneath the lawnmower for 90 minutes.
