Construction has begun on Lafayette Buc-ees, still slated to open in 2028
According to
Triton Construction, the general contractor on the project, said in July that construction was on pause due to a combination of design delays and poor weather conditions. The store was originally expected to open in 2026, but the delays pushed back the timeline by two years.
The Lafayette location will encompass more than 74,000 square feet and will provide about 120 gas pumps, according to the Lafayette Economic Development Authority. The new travel center is also expected to create 150 jobs with pay starting at $17 per hour.
Buc-ee’s will spend $82 million on the project, with approximately $12.5 million for public infrastructure, LEDA said.
