CityLink could increase fares, price of passes for the first time in 8 years
During a recent meeting of the Mayor’s Advisory Board for People with Disabilities, the City of Abilene’s Department of Transportation presented the proposed increases, saying the last increase for the cost of CityLink services was in January 2017.
If approved, the increase would take place in two phases – half happening November 3, 2025 and the other half happening October 1, 2026.
For example, under the new rates, an adult monthly pass, which currently costs $45, will be raised to $53 November 3, 2025, and then will be raised to $61 October 1, 2026.
All new proposed rates will be as follows:
Other proposed changes include eliminating weekly passes and adding a no-show fee for microtransit on demand services and increasing the no-show fee for evening services.
City Council members will hear an initial report on the proposed increases during a meeting October 9, and a final reading, public comment, and vote on this issue will take place October 23.
If the proposal is approved during the October 23 meeting, the first increases will take place November 3 as scheduled.
