Baxter Health welcomes surgical oncologist Dr. Anastasios Mitsakos

Baxter Health has announced the addition of Anastasios Mitsakos, MD, to its medical staff. Dr. Mitsakos, a general surgeon and surgical oncologist, will practice with Ozark Surgical Group and Highlands Oncology, bringing advanced expertise in cancer surgery to the region.
Dr. Mitsakos recently completed a complex general surgical oncology fellowship at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center at the University of South Florida in Tampa. His training also included a surgical oncology rotation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, a research fellowship at Vidant Cancer Center at East Carolina University, and a surgical education research fellowship. He completed his general surgery residency at Vidant Medical Center/East Carolina University.

Originally from Greece, Dr. Mitsakos earned his undergraduate degree at the Medical Faculty of the Military School of Combat Support Officers in Thessaloniki and his Doctor of Medicine at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His medical education also included training at Hippokrateion General Hospital in Thessaloniki and a clinical rotation in surgery at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, Minnesota.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Mitsakos enjoys playing hard rock guitar, running and basketball.
