Kirk, 31, was shot and killed while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The event was organized by Turning Point USA, which Kirk founded.
Alabama Senator Katie Britt called the shooting a tragedy and said her heart was broken for Kirk’s family.
“Please join Wesley and me in praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and for our nation as they mourn this unbelievable tragedy. My heart breaks for his loved ones-especially his wife and two children he leaves behind.
Charlie was a leading voice in the conservative movement who brought countless young Americans into the fold of American politics. He was fearless, and started important conversations in our discourse not only throughout the country, but throughout the world. Most importantly, he was a loving father and husband. His legacy and impact will live on for generations.
Political violence has reached new heights and become a true sickness in our nation. Please pray for our country.”

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey also spoke on Kirk’s death, saying she and the state were praying for the family.
“All of us in Alabama are wrapping the Kirk family in prayer during this unimaginable time of loss,” She said. “Charlie was a husband, father and patriot. I hope and pray his mission to have good dialogue continues.”
Congressman Robert Aderholt said he was deeply saddened by Kirk’s passing.
“I am deeply saddened to hear of Charlie Kirk’s passing. Charlie was a devoted Christian and father,” the congressman said. “Because of his faith, I know he is now at peace with the Lord. Please continue to pray for Charlie’s family, his young children, and all of his loved ones.”
Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl said Kirk worked to inspire and energize young conservatives around the country, and his loss is a tragedy for his family and loved ones, along with the young people he inspired.
“We must stand united against political violence in every form,” Wahl added. “What happened to Charlie Kirk is more than an attack on one man—it is an attack on the very freedoms that define our nation. Free speech, peaceful dialogue, and the open exchange of ideas are the cornerstones of our Republic. When violence replaces debate, when intimidation replaces dialogue, we all lose. America must send a clear message that political violence will never be tolerated. We honor Charlie’s legacy by rededicating ourselves to civility, to courage, and to protecting the sacred right of every citizen to speak without fear.”
