Inmate found dead at Allegany County state prison

CUMBERLAND, Md. (DC News Now) — Maryland State Police (MSP) said that an inmate died at a correctional facility in Allegany County over the weekend.

MSP said that on Saturday, around 6 p.m., investigators with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services reached out to its Homicide Unit about an inmate who had died.

According to MSP, officers found 38-year-old Patrick Candeloro lying unresponsive on the ground of his cell in the North Branch Correctional Institution.

MSP said that as of Monday, the investigation was active and ongoing.
