Gulfport man accused of kidnapping employee during test drive
Officers responded to Dedeaux Road just before 10:45 a.m. on September 8, 2025. Witnesses said the suspect posed as a potential customer and requested to test drive a vehicle.
During the test drive, investigators said the suspect brandished a firearm, kidnapped the employee and forced the victim to drive to another location. Once they arrived, police said the suspect stole the victim’s cellphone at gunpoint before forcing the victim out of the vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.
Through the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified as Reginald Donovan Johnson, 33, of Gulfport. Police later located the stolen vehicle, and Johnson was arrested without incident.
Johnson was charged with one count of armed robbery, one count of armed carjacking and one count of kidnapping. He was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center and is being held on a $1,500,000 bond.
