The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office said in a release Monday that the shooting was reported around 5 a.m. in the 400 block of 16th Street in Dunbar.
At the scene, responders found 20-year-old Bausley Gwinn-Bowles of Dunbar dead from a gunshot wound.
Investigators determined that a teen male shot Bowles in the residence before attempting to shoot himself. The teen was transported to CAMC General Hospital, where he remains in critical condition despite some improvement.
The release said several other juveniles were inside the residence when the shooting occurred.
No criminal charges have been filed so far, but detectives are working with the Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to review potential charges as the case develops.
