Slidell man convicted of ‘foot fetish’ felony in nursing home

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A Slidell man was convicted in a “foot fetish” sexual battery case on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

According to the 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office, 47-year-old Bobby Mendell Bester was found guilty by a St. Tammany Parish jury.

According to testimony during the trial, the Slidell Police Department received a report in March 2018 about a sexual assault at a nursing home on Robert Boulevard. Upon arrival the 69-year-old victim told officers that Bester, who reportedly was a janitor at the facility, entered her room while she was lying in bed. She said he commented about one of her socks being on the floor and offered to put them back on her. The district attorney’s office reported that he then began touching her feet inappropriately.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Bester’s arrest but efforts to locate him were unsuccessful. Bester was arrested six years later in February 2024. Upon being questioned, Court documents state that Bester admitted to having a foot fetish but denied the accusation made against him.

A real estate agent said Bester called her posing as a potential buyer in 2007. She said after several phone conversations, Bester told the woman he was not actually interested in buying real estate but wanted to take her on a date. The woman declined, but Bester continued to call the woman, reportedly making several lewd comments about her feet. The woman became concerned Bester was following her and reported him to the police.

Bester faces between 25 and 99 years in prison.
