SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Customers in San Francisco’s Japantown now have one fewer dining option. Popular Korean restaurant Daeho is temporarily closed “until further notice,” the restaurant said in an Instagram post

Daeho did not specify or provide a reason for its temporary closure. There is no known date for when the restaurant at 1620 Post St. will reopen.

“Our SF Japantown location will be temporarily closed until further notice,” Daeho wrote. “Thank you for your understanding!”

Daeho opened in Japantown back in February 2019, and the restaurant’s “overwhelming success” led to several more locations opening, according to its website. Daeho’s second location in Milpitas opened in June 2019.

The restaurant has since risen in popularity, thanks to its signature Galbi-jjim dish (short rib). Daeho has amassed an Instagram following of nearly 19,000.

You’ve probably seen countless social media videos of a Daeho server using a blowtorch to melt the cheese on top of the meat. When food influencers feature Daeho, this is the lure of the dining experience.

The star of the Netflix show “Culinary Class Wars,” Ahn Sung-jae, called Daeho the “best Korean short rib soup in NorCal,” according to a post by the restaurant.

Daeho has locations in San Mateo, Milpitas, Concord, Las Vegas and Bellevue, Wash. Daeho plans to expand to Austin and Honolulu, the restaurant said on its website. The Concord location is Daeho’s seventh, and that restaurant opened last December.

Other San Francisco restaurants under the same ownership as Daeho: YakiniQ, Aji Kiji, jina bakes and Michelin Guide restaurant Bansang.
