Ogden man arrested after allegedly firing several rounds at people in apartment building

OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) — An Ogden man is facing felony charges after allegedly firing multiple rounds at people at an apartment building Saturday morning.

According to a probable cause statement, Ogden Police were called out to an apartment complex early Saturday morning after multiple 911 calls were made reporting shots fired.

When police arrived, they found a large crowd, with multiple witnesses saying they were fired upon by a lone male suspect.

Officers found seven spent shell casings inside of a hallway within complex, which were just outside of the apartment that was reported to be connected with the incident. Witnesses on scene were able to identify the suspect as 22-year-old Ralfo Guajardo.

The affidavit states that Guajardo fled the scene prior to police arriving, but a blood trail was located leading away from the complex toward the Ogden River.

Guajardo was initially not located by police during the initial investigation.

Police discovered multiple rounds struck an outside wall of an apartment that was occupied.

Guajardo was then later located by Ogden Police later that evening.

During a police interview, Guajardo was reported to initially have denied possessing or firing a gun but later confessed to having one while stating he is a convicted felon and knew he was restricted from having one.

Guajardo told police he fired five rounds at a group of people as they ran away from him.

The affidavit states Guajardo confessed to fleeing the scene with a firearm, and told police he had discarded the firearm, and Ogden Police are still looking for it.

Guajardo was convicted of Aggravated Assault by a Prisoner, a second-degree felony, in February 2022. He is currently facing seven counts of Felony Discharge of a Firearm, a third-degree felony, and one count of Prohibited Dangerous Weapon Conduct, a second-degree felony.

Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
