On Friday, police identified the suspect in the fatal shooting as Rosario Raul Rodriguez Cazares, 49, of Hayward. Cazares was arrested and booked into the Santa Rita Jail for the suspicion of murder.

Hayward PD said it delayed the public release of information in the case to “protect the integrity of the investigation, to preserve the unconventional crime scene, and to prevent the suspect’s flight from justice.”

The death marked Hayward’s sixth homicide of 2025.
