Look for these lane and ramp closures on I-465, I-65 this week

INDIANAPOLIS – Interstate work on I-465 and I-65 means some ramp and lane closures for drivers passing through Indianapolis this week and weekend.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, work on I-465 on the east side starts around 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8. The left lane of I-465 north and southbound will close from north of 30th Street to I-70. I-465 southbound will be reduced to a single lane near 30^th

Street.

The construction project will also close the Pendleton Pike (U.S. 36) ramp to I-465 southbound. Lanes and ramps are expected to reopen around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

The project includes temporary striping, barrier wall work and overhead sign work, INDOT said.

Weekend work on I-465

Drivers will see additional work in this same area for the weekend, with closures set for pavement marking installation.

Look for the following lane and ramp closures on I-465 and I-70:

Friday, Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. to Saturday, Sept. 13 at 9 p.m.

• Three right lanes of I-465 northbound will close from I-70 to 30th Street
• I-70 westbound ramp to I-465 northbound closed
• Two lanes of I-70 eastbound ramp to I-465 northbound closed
• One lane of I-465 northbound closed just south of I-70

Saturday, Sept. 13 at 9 p.m. to Monday, Sept. 15 at 6 a.m.

• Three left lanes of I-465 northbound will close from I-70 to 30th Street
• I-70 westbound ramp to I-465 northbound closed
• One lane of I-70 eastbound ramp to I-465 northbound closed
• Two lanes of I-465 northbound closed just south of I-70

I-65 work also means closures this week

As part of the I-65 Safety & Efficiency project, INDOT will set beams on a pair of bridges this weekend, leading to some restrictions.

INDOT said bridge beams will be installed on the reworked I-65 northbound bridge over Morris and Prospect streets as well as the new Hanna Avenue bridge over I-65.

The restrictions are expected to last between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.:

Wednesday, Sept. 10

• Short stoppages lasting up to 20 minutes on northbound I-65 between the I-65/I-465 interchange and Hanna Avenue

Thursday, Sept. 11 and Friday, Sept. 12

• Morris Street and Prospect Street closed between the southbound I-65 on-ramp and Leonard Street

Work is dependent on the weather and could change based on the conditions outside. Drivers are reminded to slow down and avoid distractions, especially in work zones.
