FARMINGTON, Utah (ABC4) — On September 5, 2025, 13-year-old Connor Leonard was struck and killed by a car while riding on his e-bike. Today, his family released a statement on their loss.

According to the Farmington police Department, Connor was riding his e-bike near 600 S and 1525 W around 4:30 p.m. Another vehicle was traveling north on 1525 W towards 600 S and struck Connor.

Witnesses told law enforcement that Connor was bleeding and not breathing, and they attempted to resuscitate him. When law enforcement arrived, they continued to render aid before transporting Connor to the hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital.

The driver reportedly remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. His identity has not been released at this time.

Family identified Connor as the 13-year-old victim in this accident and posted a GoFundMe to help with funeral costs and other expenses as they grieve. In the fund, they said, “If you knew Connor, you know how fun and adventurous he was. He had the best smile, a kind heart, and was always trying to make his friends laugh.”

His family also released a statement detailing their loss. The statement reads:

The Leonard family is so grateful for the massive outpouring of love and support from Connor’s peers, as well as from people we don’t even know. The efforts to honor and remember Connor are buoying us all in this incredibly difficult time. People are so good.

Our hearts go out to the boys who were with him at the time of his passing and to the driver of the vehicle involved. This was a tragic accident, and it is simply incredible how it has brought the community together.”

The Davis School District said that the community wore Connor’s favorite color, red, today to honor him.

Farmington Police Department has not identified contributing factors to this accident. However, this is one of several accidents that have occurred across Utah involving motorized e-bikes or e-scooters recently.

In August, a 21-year-old e-bike rider was thrown over 180 feet and killed after being struck by a driver traveling at high speeds in Riverton and a teenager riding an electric scooter was struck and transported to the hospital in Kearns.

Last week, an electric motorbike rider was hospitalized in Herriman. The rider was traveling at high speeds and was not wearing a helmet when he was struck by an SUV turning left.
