DALLAS (KDAF) — A new study reveals the Marvel characters fans love the most. Social casino website McLuck gathered a list of the most well-known Marvel characters, including Black Widow and Captain America, and analyzed the search volume data in the US over the past 12 months. They ranked the characters from the highest to lowest number of monthly searches to discover the top 10 most popular.

Deadpool is the most searched Marvel character of all time, with a staggering 2.05 million searches for the antihero each month. Deadpool, neither villain nor hero, is the alter ego of Wade Wilson, who possesses superhuman regenerative abilities. Fans fell in love with Deadpool’s humor and quick wit, which were perfectly illustrated in the movies by actor Ryan Reynolds.

Nevada searches for Deadpool more than any other state, with an average of 801.89 monthly searches per 100,000 residents.

In second place is Spider-Man, receiving 1.31 million monthly searches. Like Deadpool, Spider-Man has always been an immensely popular Marvel comic character, but the many movie adaptations have led to the hero’s surge in popularity in recent years. Played by Tom Holland in the most recent movies, Spider-Man captured the hearts of millions with his working-class-hero storyline, compassion, and relatability.

Texas searches for Spider-Man more than any other state, with 529.83 monthly searches per 100,000 residents

Ranking third is Venom, with an average of 918,462 searches per month. Venom is also classified as an antihero in the Marvel Universe, as many know him for trying to ruin Spider-Man’s life in the comics and earlier Spider-Man movies. Tom Hardy stars in the newest movie adaptations of Venom, portraying his funny yet scary unchecked fury and unapologetic attitude.

Nevada searches for Venom the most as well, with 379.38 searches per month per 100,000 people. Nevada must love an antihero.

Wolverine ranks fourth, receiving an average of 739,520 monthly searches. Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, is the first Marvel character from the X-Men film series in the ranking and is an iconic fan favorite. He is a mutant most distinctive to fans for his retractable claws made of the fictional unbreakable metal called ‘adamantium’.

Alaska is searching for Wolverine more than any other state, with an average of 301.58 searches per month per 100,000 people.

Iron Man is in fifth place, gathering 565,689 monthly searches. Iron Man, also known as Tony Stark, is believed by many fans to be the best Avenger due to his intelligence and inventions. In the MCU, the iconic role of Iron Man is played by Robert Downey Jr.

Utah loves Iron Man the most, searching an average of 210.88 times per month for the hero per 100,000 residents.

Next in the ranking is Black Widow, in sixth place with 503,482 monthly searches. Black Widow, also known as Natasha Romanoff, is portrayed by Scarlett Johansson in the MCU. She is an expert spy with a long, dark back story.

Captain America ranks seventh, receiving 404,430 searches per month. This character, played by Chris Evans in film adaptations, has superhuman strength, durability, and reflexes – not to mention his iconic, indestructible shield. Also known as Steve Rogers, he is a World War II veteran who was given a secret Super Soldier Serum and frozen for 66 years.

Next in the ranking is Doctor Doom in eighth place, with an average of 398,481 monthly searches. Doctor Doom is the only true villain in the ranking and is known for his many powers, including energy manipulation and telekinesis. He can cast spells, produce illusions, create portals, and even travel across dimensions. Doctor Doom is fast becoming a fan favorite after Robert Downey Jr. has been confirmed to play Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie.

Black Panther ranks ninth, with 372,253 monthly searches. Black Panther, also known as T’Challa, is the king and protector of the fictional African country Wakanda. Black Panther possesses many powers, including superhuman strength and speed, as well as the unique ability to contact the dead and his ancestors. Chadwick Boseman plays this hero in the MCU.

Blade is in tenth place, with 356,747 monthly searches. Blade is another antihero in the ranking and was born a half human, half vampire hybrid, possessing the strengths of a vampire without their weaknesses – making him the perfect vampire hunter. Wesley Snipes plays this character in the Blade movies and even appeared in the recent Deadpool & Wolverine movie, creating a buzz among fans hoping for a Blade remake.
