According to a press release from Grand Canyon National Park, a report was received by the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center at approximately 12:40 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7. The report said that a vehicle with one occupant had gone over the rim near the South Kaibab Trailhead.
Following the report, park rangers responded to the area. The press release states that rangers were able to recover the body of the person roughly 300 feet below the rim of the canyon. The deceased person was transferred to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The individual recovered from the canyon has been identified as Steven (Drew) Bradley, a 27-year-old man from Federal Heights, CO.
Grand Canyon National Park says that the National Park Service and Coconino County Medical Examiner are investigating the incident. The press release states that no further information is available at this time, but it provides mental health resources for those struggling.
