ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. (
KLFY) — Robert Lee Wiltz appeared in court in St. Martin Parish today, charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of Amy Louviere.
Wiltz is accused of causing Amy’s death by blunt force trauma, with the incident reportedly leading to her hospitalization on Wednesday and subsequent death the following day.
As a result, a judge in the 16th Judicial Court ruled that Wiltz will be held in a St. Martin Parish jail without bond.
News 10 was in the courtroom as the arraignment unfolded and spoke to Amy’s family who say while it is painful, it is a necessary step as they continue to push for justice.
“My reaction was a relief that he can no longer be out right now at least, we just want justice for my sister,” said Jamie Louviere, Amy’s sister.
Sky Landry, Amy’s godchild, described Amy as the heart of their family, noting her unwavering support and presence at family events.
“Amy was the most supportive and a nanny for all of us, she never missed a football game, recital or graduation, she was there,” said Landry.
During the court hearing, disturbing images of Amy’s fatal injuries were shown, highlighting the severity of the incident.
Hali Louviere, another godchild, used the opportunity to speak against domestic violence, urging others in similar situations to seek help.
“There are women being hurt and unfortunately killed in these circumstances, and we hope that if there’s any woman, anybody who is going through something like this or similar to this that they seek help,” said Hali.
Jamie Louviere, Amy’s sister expressed her belief that Amy’s death could have been prevented and hopes to save others by sharing her sister’s story.
“My sister could’ve been saved, just, if you in this situation, please leave, find a way to leave,” said Jamie.
Wiltz is currently held without bond and could face life in prison if convicted, as the family of Amy Louviere continues to seek justice for her untimely death.
Amy’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to pay for funeral expenses and to help Amy’s son, Raven Louviere, who is just beginning college.
