Arrest: Woman dies in violent domestic attack, police arrest suspect
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Evidence collected at the scene of a violent domestic dispute led officers of the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) to arrest Jacobi Hughes for the murder of his girlfriend, Kalisia Franklin.
On Saturday, September 6, 2025, around 8:30 a.m., Shreveport Police officers responded to a call regarding a ‘deceased person’ at a home located on the 3100 block of Desoto Street.
When officers arrived, they discovered the body of Kalisia Franklin inside the home.
Detectives noted that the back room where the victim was found showed extensive signs of a struggle, indicating a violent altercation had taken place.
Kalisia Franklin, 27, was transported to the hospital and died at Willis-Knighton Medical Center on Greenwood Road later that day at 1:03 p.m.
Her death marking the 26th confirmed homicide to date in Shreveport in 2025 and the 31st confirmed death in Caddo Parish.
The scene was processed by crime scene investigators, and multiple items of evidence were collected.
During the investigation, detectives identified Jacobi Hughes, the victim’s boyfriend, as a suspect.
Hughes was detained at the scene and transported to the Shreveport Police Department for questioning. Following the interview, Hughes was arrested and charged with the following:
