The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) posted on Facebook on Saturday, Sept. 6, that Elmer Douglas Sparks, 50, had allegedly told 911 dispatchers that he had been stabbed and his family had been abducted as a result of a home invasion.
Deputies and emergency personnel crews worked hard to get to Sparks as fast as they could in hazardous traffic conditions, responding to what they were told was a dire situation, only for him to be “extremely calm” when they arrived, law enforcement officials wrote.
According to the sheriff’s office, when first responders arrived, Sparks allegedly told them no one was in danger or had been abducted.
Sparks was arrested along Highway 1431 and charged with falsifying a report, which generated an emergency response, along with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. He was lodged in the Jackson County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
